Why use SPACE as the ticker of MVC?

Simple version answer: when initially setting the ticker, the name MVC was already taken by another project; SPACE is easy to remember, so most early MVC-LABS members agreed on it.

Detailed version answer: A universe is composed of both time and space - it is the arrow of time within the realm of space. If we imagine MVC as a new universe, where each generated block represents an irreversible unit of time, then the spatial size of the block is the sum total of immutable human behaviors (1 transaction = 1 on-chain behavior) recorded within this time unit. In essence, the blockchain is a combination of a time-chain and space.

The space contained in each block can vary in size, and the more digital activities users perform on MVC, the larger the space. Therefore, SPACE directly represents the size of recordable activity space on the MVC chain. 1 unit of SPACE represents 100Mb (current fee-rate is 1 sat/b, so 1 Space = 100Mb) of on-chain usable space, which can be used for functions like running smart contracts gas, sending transactions, and storage data on-chain (under normal usage, 100Mb of space can support around 100k transactions, 10k smart contract executions, and storage of 100 photos).

The on-chain usable resources represented by 1 SPACE will continually increase with the growth and maturation of the SPACE ecosystem and its user base, through the mining competition (competition makes fee-rate lower)
